Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - The African Union (AU) Commission launched on Sunday a new flag during the opening ceremony of the 14th AU summit in Addis Ababa in the presence of African leaders across the continent.
The launching of the new flag, with more colours than the previous one, replaced the old flag, which has been in use for so many years for the work of the AU among its 53 member states.
A good number of African artists and designers took part in the competition for the new AU flag, launched in connection with the AU Summit in Addis Abba being held under the theme, Information and Communication Technologies in Africa ; Challenges and prospects for Development". Now, as from Sunday 31 January 2010, the AU will be changing all its flags being used in various institutions and peacekeeping mission. -APA |
