I am sure each and everyone reading this book review has read, heard, or viewed a news report describing the dire condition that Black men and boys are facing in the 21st century. This is why author Paul Ifayomi Grant asks the question, "when will enough be enough."

Grant, like many Black fathers around the world, is fed up with the prospects that our son's face in the future. As such, his book "Saving our Sons: Strategies and Advice for the Parents of Afrikan Teenage Sons," is his answer for the question, "what do we do to save our sons."
Grant provides a unique perspective on the topic being that he is from and currently resides in the United Kingdom, a perspective that African-American parents will be able to especially appreciate. The first thing to note is that many of the problems Black men face in the USA are quite similar to those that Black men face in the UK. However, Grant paints a much dire situation for the brothers in his country as it appears that from his perspective anti-Afrikan propaganda is more acute in the UK than in America.

Nevertheless, many of the strategies Grant proposes are right on the money whether you live in Brooklyn, London, Accra, or Kingston. He provides recommendations at the end of each chapter, suggest topics to discuss with your child, as well as provides relevant books and movies that can be used as learning tools. Essentially, in addition to being an entertaining read, Grant has provided parents with a lesson plan to educate their selves as well as their sons on how to overcome the threats that face Black men and boys.

Simply put, you can't afford not to have "Savings our Sons" in your library as this book is a definite must for all parents who have male children.
