Ethiopia observes 114th anniversary of defeat of Italian fascists

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Ethiopia on Tuesday observed the 114th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Adwa where the Italian fascists who attempted to colonize Ethiopia were defeated by the Ethiopians.

The occasion, also known as an "African Freedom Day" is celebrated annually, marking the defeat of the Italians by the Ethiopian army led by Emperor Menelik II defeated at the Battle of Adwa in 1896.
