Atlanta, GA - On Thursday, January 15, Operation HOPE in collaboration with LEADS at Spelman College, will launch the "Banking On Our Future College Edition," a financial literacy program designed for students at historically Black colleges and universities.
As a result of a joint effort between the White House and leading financial literacy nonprofit Operation HOPE, students at participating HBCUs across the United States will have the opportunity to participate in a financial education program that will help them move beyond negative financial situations. The "Banking On Our Future College Edition" program, created by financial journalist and author Stacey Tisdale on behalf of Operation HOPE, will educate students at Spelman College and other HBCUs on their "silver rights," a term coined by Operation HOPE CEO John Hope Bryant, which is the language of money, understanding the rules of free enterprise and capitalism and entrepreneurship. Spelman College will be the first HBCU to offer the "Banking On Our Future" curriculum through a series of workshops, which will focus on effective money management and how to budget during a recession. The event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in the Cosby Academic Center auditorium. Guest speakers include Tisdale and former Atlanta mayor and civil rights activist Andrew Young. Source: Spelman.edu |
